We’re looking for a motivated and dependable Marine Services Crew to play a key part in supporting our vessel operations. As a Marine Services Crew, your duties will include:

  • Relieving crew person on CentrePort’s pilot launches and relieving Tug Operator aboard our tugs.
  • Ensuring launch and tug operations are carried out safely, in accordance with best practice and good seamanship.
  • General launch and tug operation in line with good seamanship, including compliance with operating procedures.
  • Assisting the Tug Master and Tug Engineer in tug operations and tug maintenance.
  • Routine and essential maintenance of launch and tug equipment, deck and paint coating aboard the launch and tugs.
  • Regularly checking the condition of moorings, towlines and repairing/splicing/replacing when necessary.
  • Assisting with the refueling of the launch and tug, and ensuring they have adequate supplies on board at all times.
  • When on pilot launch duties you will also assist in the safe transfer of Harbour Pilots to and from vessels as required.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working at sea. 
  • Preferred Seagoing Qualifications:  Qualified Deck Hand / Able Seaman/ Skipper Restricted Limits.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Maritime NZ Certificate of Medical Fitness.
  • Attendance at a Sea Survival course preferred.
  • Competency in standard office computer systems such as Microsoft Office.
  • Must be physically fit and be able to withstand being at sea in adverse and harsh weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Due to the role covering a 24/7 roster, the preferred candidate must be flexible to work irregular hours.
