COSCO & OOCL announce new service to call into Wellington weekly from September 2025
5 August 2025
CentrePort is excited to announce that a COSCO Shipping/OOCL Service will commence direct, weekly calls into Wellington from mid-September 2025.
This service currently calls into Auckland, Tauranga, and major Australian ports, and is now set to include CentrePort Wellington.
This announcement from COSCO/OOCL follows on from MSC’s (Mediterranean Shipping Company’s) announcement in May this year, that their Noumea Service would commence regular calls into Wellington from July 2025.
CentrePort General Manager for Commercial and CentreConnect Andrew Locke, said
“We’re pleased to have yet another new service calling into CentrePort this year, with both the MSC Noumea and COSCO/OOCL now calling. These services offer more options for our customers and shippers, with new avenues for imports and exports in and out of Central New Zealand.”
CentrePort Chief Executive Anthony Delaney said that the announcement by COSCO and OOCL is a reflection of the effort the port is making to work with customers and generate positive outcomes.
“The announcement of these new services really highlights what we’re doing for our customers, to be responsive and to be more efficient. We’re proud of our people and the work they do every day to make it happen, in often challenging weather and conditions.”
