Our Shareholders
CentrePort Ltd is a port company and we operate under the Port Companies Act. We are owned by Greater Wellington Regional Council and Horizons Regional Council, and serve the community in Marlborough, Wellington, Wairarapa, Whanganui, Manawatū, Taranaki and beyond.
Last year (FY25), CentrePort paid an $11m dividend to our two major shareholders. This increases to a total of $16.6m when subvention payments made during the year are included. The additional payment occurs through an arrangement CentrePort has with GWRC and its subsidiaries to buy tax losses. During the 2025 financial year, this equated to $5.6m.
CentrePort has been improving the return it provides to its shareholders, with payments increasing over the past three years, as shown in the graph below.
Greater Wellington Regional Council
Our majority shareholder is Greater Wellington Regional Council (via its subsidiaries WRC Holdings Ltd and Port Investments Ltd).
Horizons Regional Council
Horizons Regional Council (via MWRC Holdings Limited) are our second major shareholder.
