CentrePort the first port in NZ to achieve Wellbeing Tick Level One

19 June 2025

We are proud to announce that CentrePort has become the first port in New Zealand to achieve the Wellbeing Tick’s Level One accreditation.

The Wellbeing Tick is a robust workplace accreditation programme made for organisations that are ready to make systemic changes. The programme isn't an easy tick box exercise. To date, only four other organisations in New Zealand have been accredited.

What is the Wellbeing Tick?

The Wellbeing Tick is awarded to workplaces that provide evidence that shows a genuine and high level of care for their people.  It’s based on an award-winning, globally researched wellbeing framework, designed to raise the bar for how businesses enhance their people's wellbeing. Developing is the expected level for an organisation to be at by the end of Level One and is regarded as an excellent outcome.

CentrePort’s Wellbeing project team, led by @ Megan Elmiger, has been meeting regularly over the last 18 months, to prepare the foundations for CentrePort's wellbeing journey. This culminated in the creation of our ‘bwell’ framework, which sits alongside our core value of ‘bsafe’.

Philly Powell, Wellbeing Tick CE and Founder, said “CentrePort’s Level One Wellbeing Tick Accreditation is a testament to the passionate and committed team driving real momentum.  Embedding wellbeing is a core part of their culture and employee experience, with a clear commitment to ongoing growth and evolution. It's a real privilege to work with such a dedicated team, who show up at each meeting ready to rock and smash their goals."

“We've come a long way, and we still have a long way to go. I'm incredibly proud of the work the team has done so far to build the foundations. Not many organisations make it to level one, so we're really proud of that, and grateful for the support of Philly and our people's willingness to come along on this journey. We're now working towards Level 2 Accreditation over the next 12 months, and Level 2 has a real focus on improving our leadership capability, which is something we're currently developing.” – Megan Elmiger, GM for People, Safety and Marine
