We have an exciting opportunity for a Port Security Officer to join our dedicated team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of our port facility in accordance with the Maritime Security Act and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code

What the Role Involves

As a Port Security Officer, you’ll play a key role in protecting the port’s operations, assets, and people. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular patrols and monitoring activity across the port
  • Managing access to secure areas and verifying entry authorisations
  • Responding to alarms, incidents, and emergencies in a timely manner
  • Assisting with safety and compliance procedures across the site
  • Operating relevant systems and equipment to support security operations
  • Delivering excellent customer service to all port users

This is a permanent, full-time role working on a rotating 24/7 roster. Maintaining an appropriate level of physical fitness is essential to perform these duties safely and effectively such as:

  • Climbing in and out of vehicles
  • Operating machinery and equipment
  • Performing manual handling
  • Working in all weather conditions

To be successful in the role you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • A strong commitment to health and safety practices
  • Ability to perform duties of a physical nature and in all weather conditions
  • The ability to work across day and night shifts on a rotating roster
  • A flexible and positive approach and attitude to adapt to change
  • Experience working with customers
  • A clean and full class1 drivers licence
  • Good computer literacy, including familiarity with CCTV and access control systems
  • Previous experience in security related activities is desirable
